"A Story" by Li-Young Lee

The poem "A Story" by Li- Young Lee relates the sadness of a father who cannot be able to tell his Five-year-old son a new story, even though he was "[i]n a room full of books in a world
of stories". At the same time the father has anxiety (fear) of thinking of his son giving up on him. He even visualized "...far ahead/the day this boy will go." He was begging his son to stay and let him tell a story. "But the boy is packing his shirts".
There was a moment when the father realize he was in the same place with his five-year-old son sitting on his lap, saying "Please, Baba, a story?". "It is an emotional rather than logical equation/which posits that a boy's supplications and a father's love add up to silence.

With this poem the author wanted to show us the fear of the parents of  disappointing their children to the point of thinking about their children leaving them with a big sadness on their hearts.
